Fading Era

Finding New York's past is becoming increasingly difficult. In mid-town or other parts to the north, and south of 96th street, it is virtually impossible. Chelsea and Soho are being dominated by new stores and renovated buildings.... only the veneers of the familiar structures remain. The lower east side is gradually becoming gentrified. While most housing remains untouched, high rises are not uncommon. I just saw a Trump like high rise near the corner of Delancey. So being able to photograph an old subway entrance in Soho and an unused public restroom, is quite rewarding.

Top image is a public restroom on Allen and Delancey. The subway entrance is to the 4 train on Spring and Lafayette. I guess the MTA missed this one in their renovation plans.

Obsessed

Shot this image quickly at the Joy Cioci collection just before the invited guests were let into the Box presentation area.
